BATTERY REPLACEMENT

CAUTION:

receivers connected to the UPS will not be protected against

power failure during this procedure.

Replacing UPS internal batteries

The  UPS  does  not  need  to  be  maintained  by  the  user,  but  it  is  recommended  to

perform  maintenance  according  to  IEEE  standards  with  regard  to  recommended

practice for maintenance, testing, and replacement of service-free VRLA batteries for

stationary  applications  (IEEE  Std 1188-1996).  If  the  batteries become used  up  they

must be replaced technicians trained in battery operation.

Batteries are replaced in the service access area.

The  service  of  batteries  should  be  performed  or  supervised  by  personnel

experienced in the operation of batteries, observing the required precautions.

The  same  type  and  number  of  batteries  or  battery  packs  must  be  used  when

replacing the batteries.

WARNING!

Ensure suitable battery fire protection due to potential risk of

explosion.

WARNING!

Never attempt to open the batteries. Always ensure suitable

battery protection against potential damage. Spilled electrolyte is harmful

to the eyes and skin, and could be toxic.

WARNING:

There  is  risk  of  electric  shock  when  handling  the  battery

pack.

WARNING:

The  battery  is  not  isolated  from  power  supply  circuits.

Dangerous  voltage  may  be  present  between  the  battery  terminals  and

the grounding point.

The following precautions should be taken when working with batteries:

Remove jewelry, watches, rings and other metal items.

Only use tools with insulated handles.
