the sonar. If the figure reading is stable the bottom is likely even and uniform. The bigger
the density figure with constant depth is the better the bottom has the reflecting capacity.
Auto-scaling mode is preferable for use in motion, as it excludes necessity of manual
interference when the bottom line goes out of the screen limits. In winter, when the place
for fishing is found and the ice-hole is chosen it is recommended to set the scale for the
depth manually that exceeds somehow the bottom depth: it will increase stability of the
device operation.
At small depths (from 0 to 2m) or with big quantity of long algae the sonar can unstably
shows the depth. In this case we recommend to switch to “Depth meter” mode. Stability
and precision of the readings will be considerably improved.
It is useless to try to change the depth in a small container, e.g. a bath-tub or a bucket. For
correct operation the device needs sufficient volume of water, as the sensor signal is not
sector-specific and will not be reflected not only from the bottom but the container walls,
moreover repeatedly.
To check operation capacity of the device without water we recommend to change over the
device to DEMO mode.
After the sensor contacts the water, appearance of the micro-bubbles on its sensitive surface
is possible that can strongly dissipate the registered signals and, thus, reduce sensitivity
and confuse the real picture. The bubbles need to be removed sinking the sensor for several
times or rub the sensor surface with your fingers after sinking it into the water, providing
with this good water-wetting. The ice frozen on the sensitive surface of the sensor can also
falsify information. Mind the sensor surface.
One should not leave the sonar for long under direct sun rays in summer: its LCD can lose
its operation capacity. With the bright sun the contrast reduction by means of MENU will
allow to improve the picture on the screen.
