Audio Evacuation System Controls
The module switches are used to manually activate or silence individual
speaker circuits, typically on a floor by floor basis. The top adjacent LED
is typically used to indicate an active or an open speaker circuit, and is
illuminated when a supervisory open is detected on the speaker zone. The
lower LED is used to indicate a silenced or shorted speaker circuit, and is
illuminated when a circuit is silenced or a supervisory short is detected on
the speaker zone.
The system is typically programmed such that when the switch is in the
lower (speaker silence) position, the appropriate speaker circuit is RESET
and the lower adjacent LED illuminated, indicating the circuit has been
silenced. The speaker circuit must also be programmed so that all
"silenced LEDs" are RESET upon any alarm condition. This insures valid
circuit status indications at all times.
Manual Override
The switches may be used to override any automatic system functions,
similar to H-O-A (Hand-Off-Automatic) switches. In the center position,
the function is in the automatic mode. The upper switch position is
typically used to force a function "ON", and the lower switch position is
used to force a function "OFF." Typical applications include fan, damper,
and door control. LEDs are used to indicate status and mode of affected
devices or systems.
