3.5 Bellcore GR-63 Low Humidity (ES-GR-63)
3.5.1 Purpose
Allows the chamber to perform in compliance with Bellcore GR-63 Test Method 5.1.2. (Reference the
Bellcore GR-63 specification for details on this test.)
3.5.2 Operation
The chamber is equipped with a Solid State Humidity Sensor. The humidity sensor is a two piece unit
connected by wire. It consists of a 1/2” diameter probe with a porous filter cover over the active portion of
the sensor. The other piece is a 4-20 ma transmitter mounted remote from the sensor.
ES-GR-63 is enabled through the use of Time Signals 9 and 10 of the SCP-220 controller. When it is
enabled the humidity heat, humidity drain solenoid, and humidity tray fill control are all disabled. The EPR
bypass solenoid is also locked “ON”.
While running Test 5.1.2., the time signals should be programmed as follows:
TS9 “ON” during steps 7,8,9,10 and 11
TS10 “ON” during steps 10 and 11
3.5.3 Maintenance
The porous PTFE filter on the solid state humidity sensor should be replaced if dirty.
When the filter is removed, the sensor is exposed. Extra care should be
taken to ensure that the sensor is not touched or damaged.
