AIR DELIVERY SYSTEM

This adjustment allows the operator to achieve very low product application rates for fine seeds
such as Canola as well as high application rates for product such as fertilizer. For most products
the metering unit can be set in the high range.
The mixer plate is adjusted to the desired setting by turning the knob outside of the metering
unit.
For bins containing seed, the mixer should be set that all product is fed into the upper air lines.
For fertilizer bins, the mixer can be set to the preference of the operator (e.g. 20/80, 50/50 etc.).
An encoder on the metering shaft measures the speed of the metering shaft. The linchpins on
the spur gears are designed to brake if excessive torque is transmitted through the shafts. This
may occur if there is high resistance on the metering- or stirrer shaft. In such case, the encoder
will detect that the metering shaft is stationary and alarm the operator even if the hydraulic
motor continues to rotate.
IMPORTANT:
The cogs should be inspected on a daily basis for build-up to prevent damage
to the metering unit.
Both the single outlet and dual outlet mixer metering units have three covers/lids. The vertical
cover is the inspection cover which can be opened to view the meter shaft and pintle cogs. This
lid may be opened with product in the bin. The horizontal cover below the metering unit is the
calibration cover and can also be opened with product in the bin. The third cover, sitting at an
angle, is the bin drainage cover. This cover is only opened when the operator wishes to clean
out the last remaining product from the bin. Take care not to remove this cover when the bins
are filled with product.
