6.4 OPERATING PROCEDURES
CONNECTING AIR CART
The tractor vertical load requirement for tow-between air carts is 5000 kg. Ensure that your
tractor can handle this weight.
HITCHING TO THE TRACTOR
NOTE:
The below procedure refers to the tow-between Air Cart. The tow-behind cart hitching
procedure is less complicated but involves hitching the seeding implement first.
1. Ensure you are working on a level surface when performing this procedure.
2. The front end of the air cart should be held in raised position by the parking jack. The
parking jack hydraulic cylinder is equipped with a double pilot operated check valve.
This valve ensures the parking jack remains in the last held position even if the
hydraulic hoses are removed.
3. Back the tractor into the hitching position. Leave enough space for the air cart front-
end to be raised or lowered without interfering with the tractor drawbar. Connect the
quick couplers of the parking jack to the tractor’s hydraulic supply.
4. Set the height of the tow eye on the Air Cart to level of the tractor towbar using the
parking jack.
5. Once the correct level is attained, check that the Air Cart is level front to back. If there
is any adjustment required, raise or lower the Air Cart tow eye height.
NOTE:
The tow eye can be flipped around to achieve 4 different level settings. Also flip the
bush around so that the circlip is always on the top surface.
Normal and inversed tow eye positions
6. Back the tractor into the final position that both male and female clevis line up and
connect using an adequate hitch pin.
7. Raise the parking jack completely.
