Operational Safety
Hazardous Area
•
Measuring systems for use in hazardous locations are accompanied by separate "Ex documentation", which
is an
integral part
of this Operating Manual. Strict compliance with installation instructions and - ratings, as
directed in this supplementary documentation, is mandatory.
•
Use the explosion proof type for measurement in areas where explosion hazards are present.
•
Devices employed in areas having explosion hazards should be installed and wired in keeping with explo-
sion proof regulations.
•
Devices installed in areas having explosion hazards must not be opened when the power is on. Tighten the
cable gland firmly.
•
Device maintenance and repair is restricted to meet explosion proof regulations.
•
Ensure that all personnel are properly qualified.
•
Observe the certification requirements as well as national and local regulations.
Power Supply
Confirm that local power supply voltage and frequency meet device specifications before attempting to operate.
Refer to "12.1 Technical Specifications".
Power cable
•
Use the power supply cable supplied with the device by the manufacturer, or other appropriate cable as
specified in the instruction manual.
•
The power source should have a ground terminal, and the power supply cable should have a ground line.
Refer to "5 Wiring".
Grounding
Do not unground device while the power supply is turned on. Doing so may cause a short circuit, resulting in
damage to devices, as well as personal injury from electric shock.
Caution!
Be certain to ground NMS5 before connecting input and output to other systems.
Designated NMS5 Use
NMS5 series is designed to measure liquid level in storage tanks or other containment facilities.
Auxiliary devices may be connected, as specified in this manual. Performance of such aftermarket devices,
however, is not guaranteed. Refer to manufacture supplied instructions when connecting aftermarket devices.
If device is used for any purpose other than intended, device damage, as well as personal injury or death may
result. Devices are supplied with IEC class 1 (ground terminal).
Caution!
Changes or modifications other than those expressly approved by Hauser are strictly prohibited.
Unauthorized modifications can cause malfunction or damage, resulting in serious injury or death.
