Electrostatic Charge
Note!
When liquid measured by NMS5 has a conductivity at 10
-8
s/cm or less, it is quasi-nonconductive. In this case,
using a stilling well or guide wire is recommended. This releases the electrostatic charge on liquid surface. (refer
to "1.5 Electrostatic Charge" details on a stiling time for a volume of a charged object).

Installation for Wire Drum and Displacer
When NMS5 is delivered, there are 2 ways of packing procedures depending on mounting methods of a dis-
placer.
1.
For All-in-one method, the displacer is mounted on the measuring wire of NMS5. Follow the instructions
to remove the packing attached to NMS5.
2.
Displacer shipped separately. It is necessary to install the displacer in the measuring wire inside NMS5.
Follow the instructions below.
4.7.1
All-in-one
As NMS5 is protected by some packaging materials, remove them as follows prior to mounting NMS5 (refer to
Figure 25: Removing Procedure for All-in-one).

Notes
1
1.
Hold the gauge so that it stays horizontal
against the flange.
2.
Cut the fixing bands.
3.
Remove the displacer holder.
•
Do not tilt the gauge after removing the
displacer holder.
2
4.
Mount NMS5 on the nozzle .
•
Be sure that the measuring wire hangs
vertically.
•
Confirm that there are no kinks or other
malfunctions in the calibration window.
3
5.
Remove the drum housing cover from NMS5
unit.
6.
Loosen two screws on the wire drum holder
and remove the holder and the bracket.
•
Be sure not to lose O-ring and fixed bolts for
the cover for the drum housing.
4
7.
Remove the tape from the wire drum care-
fully.
•
Remove
the tape by hands to avoid damage
to wire drum.
•
Make sure that the measuring wire is
wrapped so that it fits correctly in grooves.
•
If not, rewrap the wire so it fits correctly in
grooves.
5
8.
Attach the drum housing cover.
•
Confirm that O-ring is in groove.
6
9.
Turn on the main power and confirm that
NMS5 shows "STOP" and that level shows
"16050 ~16060 mm".
10. Set "LEVEL" command, then set "STOP"
where the displacer stops 16000 mm or less
near the 15950 mm level.
11. Set "UP" command and the displacer will
automatically stop at 16000 mm.
12. Set "STOP" command.
