1. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
PURELAB UHQ products have been designed to be safe, however, it is important that
personnel working on these units understand any potential dangers. All safety
information in this manual is highlighted as WARNING and CAUTION instructions.
These are as follows:
WARNING!
WARNINGS ARE GIVEN WHERE FAILURE TO OBSERVE
THE INSTRUCTION COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH
TO PERSONS.
CAUTION!
Cautions are given where failure to observe the instruction could
result in damage to the equipment, associated equipment and
processes
Electricity
It is essential that the electrical supply to the PURELAB UHQ unit is switched off before
any items are changed. The ON/OFF switch is located at the rear of the unit. The mains
power lead is located immediately adjacent to the ON/OFF switch and should be
physically removed before working on any electrical components including the
recirculation pump and the control PCB.
WARNING!
THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
Pressure
The mains feed water supply (or pre-treated water supply in the case of the UHQ PS) should be
isolated and residual pressure within the unit should be released prior to removal of any
cartridges or disturbance of any other hydraulic components. In addition the internal water pump
is used to drive the water from the internal treated water tank through the various stages of
purification. This pressure could present a danger if not dissipated prior to changing cartridges
etc.
CAUTION!
Switching off the electrical supply will isolate the unit from
the feed water pressure but pressure trapped within the
unit must be released by opening the dispense pen at the
front of the unit until water flow ceases.
