The screed should be separated from the side
walls with expansion tape. Screeds for floor heat
-
ing must not be rigidly tied to the subfloor or
walls (so called floating floor), to prevent down
-
ward and sideward heat loss to the subfloor and
external walls.
The length of the heating cables should be select-
ed so that they do not cross the expansion joints.
Only the power supply conduits (“Cold Tails”) can
cross the expansion joints. The Cold Tails have to
be installed in a metal protective conduit of the
length of approx. 50 cm.
*
Please ensure that the screed thickness complies with local
building regulations.
Temperature control
A temperature controller is a core component
of any floor heating system.
Controllers are used as the connecting element
between heating cables and domestic electric
circuit. Controllers will ensure the desired level
of floor or air temperature.
• If heating cables act only as the supplement
of existing (primary) heating system, users will
be mostly interested in achieving the so called
warm floor – then temperature controllers
are recommended equipped with only floor
sensors maintaining desired levels of floor
temperature.
