To set a time-out value, tap the desired type of time-out, for example, tap-
ping Standby under “Battery Power”, then tapping the Increase or
Decrease buttons will increase or decrease the setting for that selected
time-out. Tapping the Never button causes the VIA!2-8.4 Touch Panel to
not enter into a time-out cycle, see
Figure 2-8
. Note that when a time-out
is selected, the Increase, Decrease and Never Buttons shift directly
beneath the selected time-out. Select OK to accept changes or Cancel to
return to the System Setup Page

Installer Setup
The Enter Installer Setup button on the System Setup page brings up a
Password Entry screen. When the password is entered correctly the Sys-
tem Setup page displays additional installer-specific settings. These set-
tings are used by the installer to initially set up your system. ELAN
recommends that only trained and authorized personnel change any
parameters in the Installer System Setup page.
Battery & Power Management
The VIA!2-8.4 Wireless Touch Panel is equipped with an internal Li-Ion bat-
tery pack that is capable of supporting approximately 2 hours of continu-
ous operation, depending on usage. The period between battery recharge
is significantly lengthened by putting the device into Standby Mode by
using the Standby button whenever the device is not in use.
NOTE: The VIA!2-8.4 battery pack may be charged with the
accompanying 12 VDC adapter connected directly to the
12 VDC port on the touch panel or connected to the
desktop cradle. ELAN recommends that the unit be
stowed in the desktop cradle when not in use.
