5. External connections
5.4 Ethernet 1, Ethernet 2
5.4 Ethernet 1, Ethernet 2
The Ethernet 1 port on the XV300 can be used as a communication interface or as a
real-time field bus interface.
The Ethernet 2 port on the XV300 Touch Panel XV-3.3-..-C..-...-.. can only be used as a
communication interface without real-time requirements.
The Ethernet controllers support transfer rates of 10 Mbit/s and 100 Mbit/s.
When the green LED lights up, this means that there is a LINK, i.e., that an active net-
work is connected and has been detected.
When the yellow LED flashes, this means that data is being transferred.

For the network, use shielded twisted-pair (STP) cables only.
For connecting:
The XV300 to a device:
l
Use a crossover cable.
The XV300 to a hub/switch:
l
Use a patch cable (1:1).
Max. cable length: 100 m.
CAUTION
FORCES ON THE ETHERNET INTERFACE
Communications may be affected, and the connection's mechanical com-
ponents may be damaged, if the Ethernet interface is subjected to strong
vibrations or the RJ45 plug-in connection is subjected to pulling.
l
Protect the RJ45 plug-in connection from strong vibrations.
l
Protect the RJ45 plug-in connection from tensile forces at the socket.
To commission the communication between the XV300 and the device, follow the
description for the connected device.
