6 Take STEP 7 into operation

This section describes how to connect an SWD line to a SIMATIC S7-300/
400 controller via an EU5C-SWD-DP gateway.

6.1 Install the GSD files in STEP 7

You can either install the standard GSD file or a project-specific GSD file

GSD files, follow the steps below:

Open the "HW Config" programming environment and check whether 
the SWD gateway is found in the following window:"
Hardware Catalog," 
"PROFIBUS DP"

Additional FIELD DEVICES" -> 

"Switching devices" folder or, if using a project-specific GSD file, the -> 
"SWD assist" subfolder

In STEP 7 install all GSD files via the menu option
"Tools" -> "Install GSD files...."

In the dialog that opens choose the option "from the directory " from the 
"Install GSD files" list and select the appropriate directory.

Choose the required GSD file and click the "Install" button.
