Application Notes
Smooth-Stop Option With Remote Maintained
2-Wire Contact
Figure 4-7 shows how a 2-wire remote contact is
used to SOFT-START and SMOOTH-STOP the
motor.
JAM Option
(Close DIP switch DS41-1 to activate the
JAM
Trip
option.)
The JAM option is used to provide an immediate
trip if there is an overload on the motor during the
run mode. The JAM trip is de-activated during
the
START
and
STOP
modes of the solid state
motor starter operation.
If the motor current exceeds a preset value (set
by DS40 on the J option board), the starter will
trip.
The
JAM
overcurrent trip point is selectable
between 100% and 250% of the Easy-Start ES
main logic board current setting, by means of the
4-position DIP switch DS40; this switch is located
on the
JAM
option printed circuit board.
(See Figure 4-8 below for DS40 settings and %
trip points.)
Also, the inverse time delay of the
JAM
trip can
be adjusted; DS41-2 and DS41-3 are used to
adjust the trip time delay. The trip time delay
works on an inverse-time-trip mode; ie. the
greater the amount of overload, the faster the trip
time. (See Figure 4-9 for trip time curves.)
Underload Option
(Close DIP switch DS43-1 to activate the
ÒUnderloadÓ option.)
The Underload option is used to provide a trip
when the motor goes from a loaded to an
unloaded condition. The ÒUnderload TripÓ is de-
activated during the ÒStartÓ and ÒStopÓ modes of
the solid state motor starter operation.
The underload trip point is adjustable between
25% and 90% of the Easy-Start ES main logic
board current setting by means of the 4-position
DIP switch DS42; this switch is located on the
underload option printed circuit board. (See
Figure 4-10 below for DS42 settings and % trip
points.)
Also, the inverse time delay of the underload trip
can be adjusted; DS43-2 and DS43-3 are used to
adjust the trip time delay. The trip time delay
works on an inverse-time-trip mode; ie the
greater the amount of underload, the faster the
trip time. (See Figure 4-11 for trip time curves.)
