6. SERVICE
BEFORE SERVICING, PLEASE NOTE THE
FOLLOWING:
1. Allow dust collector to pulse one cycle to drain
manifold reservoir prior to performing any service to
dust collector. If working on air pulse cleaning system
pneumatic components, bleed off the remainder of the
compressed air contained in the air manifold reservoir
after pulse cycle by removing check valve as shown
in Figure 8. For customer-supplied compressed air
installations, close off plant compressed air supply
and completely relieve pressure in supply line to air
manifold reservoir.
Loosen check valve (white plastic part) connected to
brass tee threaded into air manifold reservoir to
completely relieve air pressure prior to performing any
service work on air pulse cleaning system (refer to
Figure 8).
2. De-energize and disconnect electrical power to dust
collector (and electrical control panel) prior to
performing any service to dust collector.
3. Collected dust may be hazardous. Consult proper
authorities for handling and disposal.
4. Collected dust may be a potential fire hazard.
Grinding or operations involving open flames should
not be performed without fire protection measures in
place. Refer to Section 1 for additional precautions.
5. Wear appropriate protective clothing when servicing
the dust collector.
6. Disposal of collected dust must be according to state
and local environmental regulations.
6.1 CARTRIDGE FILTER REMOVAL AND
REPLACEMENT
Authentic Supra-Conic ® cartridge filters are the only
replacement filters that will provide the high level of
performance expected from the Supra-Conic
® dust
collector.
Replacement cartridge filters should be ordered when
the differential pressure across the filter is consistently
above 4.5" w.g. (101-127 mmG) or system airflow is
inadequate. To order filters, contact the nearest United
Air Specialists office listed on the back of this manual.
Follow this procedure to replace the filter(s) (refer to
Figure 10):
1. Disconnect electrical power.

2. Open filter compartment door and swing door past
90° axis.
3. Remove dust drawer from SC1700 and SC3400 units.
4. Loosen and remove the two filter mounting knobs
while hand-supporting the filter.
Be careful the filter does not drop after loosening and
removing the filter mounting knobs. Filter may be
heavy due to the weight of the collected dust.
5. Lower the upper surface of the cartridge filter down to
a 45-60° axis. Hold and support the cartridge filter by
bottom and top surfaces during removal process.
6. Pull and lift filter off the rear support bracket.
7. Inspect the tubesheet and make certain the gasket
area is free of dust. This ensures proper sealing of
the new filter.
8. To install the new filter, lift filter at a 45-60° angle to
tubesheet and place rear filter support lip on rear filter
support bracket.
