1.1. Pressure
This product functions hydraulically by water pressure (min. 2 bar – max. 6 bar).
1.2. Electrical connection
You must make sure that an upstream on-off switch prior cannot cut off the power supply.
If the power supply cable and/or unit is damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified person.
1.3. Existing plumbing
It must be in good shape with little calcification. The installation of a pre-filter is always recommended.
All plumbing for water supply, distribution in the installation and connection to the sewer must be made in compliance
with the legislation in force at the time of installation.
1.4. Water Temperature
This product works only for cold water lines at a temperature between 5°C (41°F) and 25°C (77°F).
1.5. Location
The floor on which you install your softener must be level, clean and stable.
It must have a discharge capacity to the sewer near the unit.
There must be a code-compliant electrical power outlet with grounding connection, not controlled by an on-off
switch and nearby the unit.
The area must be protected from freezing in winter and from sunlight in summer. The softener operates at ambient
temperatures between 5°C (41°F) and 35°C (95°F).

2. SAFETY AND USE INSTRUCTIONS
Read all instructions before using the water softener
2.1.
In the event of damage caused by non-compliance with this instruction manual and a non-compliant installation,
the warranty shall be immediately terminated. The manufacturer/importer is not responsible for damage or use
contrary to the instructions in this manual.
2.2.
This product can only be used according to specifications given on the unit identification plate and according
to the technical data provided in the manual.
2.3.
This product is designed for treatment of drinking water. Any changes in water characteristics can lead to damage
to the product.
2.4.
This product only works on cold water lines.
2.5.
It is strictly forbidden to install this product upstream of the water meter.
2.6.
To ensure that this product is properly installed, it must be fitted with a pressure reducer Durlum has supplied.
2.7.
Do not place any other object or device on the product.
2.8.
Do not remove the salt container placed at the bottom of the unit for mono-block softeners providing access to
the hydraulic and electric part. Do not open the cover giving access to the hydraulic and electric for DUO softeners.
The hydraulic and electric part shall only be accessible to a technician authorized by the manufacturer.
2.9.
This product should be protected against the backflow of hot water (we recommend fitting a check valve), against back pres-
sure from the installation (we recommend fitting a surge control), and against the injection of harmful material upstream of the
product.
2.10.
This product is not suitable for installation outside a building.
2.11.
This product should be kept out of the reach of children.
2.12.
Children or persons incapable of evaluating the risks intrinsic to this product should not be permitted to use it
unsupervised.
2.13.
This product should be installed in a location protected from frost and inaccessible to unauthorised persons.
2.14.
Certain installations upstream of this product could result in it being damaged.
2.15.
Damage will be caused to this product by non-observance of the hygiene instructions, subjecting it to impact,
incorrect electrical connection, flooding, fire, etc.
2.16.
The use of non-original parts may cause this product to malfunction. In the event of a problem with this product,
only technicians approved by the manufacturer are permitted to carry out repair work.
2.17.
Users are advised to regularly check the device’s consumption of salt and water. In the event of excessive
consumption, the product should be shut down in accordance with the procedure detailed in the instructions. The
manufacturer cannot be held responsible for any excessive consumption.
The safety instructions and the instructions contained in this manual do not cover all conditions and situations which
might possibly arise. Common sense, caution and care should of course be exercised when handling any product.
These criteria should therefore be met by the person/s handling this product.
2.18.
For warranty purposes, this device must be installed by a professional and in accordance with the installation diagram.
