4.1. Installation of a bypass system
a. Install the softener in a suitable place in accordance with the safety instr.
b. Shut off the water supply.
c. Create a bypass :
Two possibilities are proposed :
1. Assembly of a bypass on the water pipe
2. Assembly of a bypass valve on the softener (sold as an accessory or built-in).
c.1.
Create a bypass with three 3/4” valves (full bore ball valves) on the main water
line after the water meter.
Operation :
handle parallel to the valve; the water enters and exits the softener.
c.2. Softener with built-in bypass :
The softener can be fitted with a stainless steel bypass valve including a single
valve to turn off the water softener.
By-Pass :
handle perpendicular to the valve; unsoftened water goes directly into
the pipe and no longer passes through the softenerr
c.2.1. Operation of the bypass
The purpose of the bypass is to be able to turn the water softener off by a simple closure of the valve, by
closing the softener inlet and outlet while continuing to feed the water system with tap water.
A triangle on the red handle tells you what position the valve is ate :
