NOTICE :
FOLLOW ALL HAZARD WARNINGS AND NOTICES IN THE SAFETY
DATA AND MAINTENANCE SECTIONS OF THIS MANUAL.
The purpose of this troubleshooting guide is to clarify the most
probable system problems and which area of the system to
begin troubleshooting first.
7.1 LIST OF POTENTIAL PROBLEMS
The following paragraph presents the most common
system problems identified with the DMX IV. The proba-
ble causes have been gathered in three groups of prio-
rities. Troubleshoot the most probable items first.
7.1.1 Delivery stops as compartment empties
The most common root cause is that the DMX is unable to
remove air, or that the pressure diversion inside the DMX
pneumatic cover is not reaching the pump air relief valve.
High probability items . . . . .: 3, 10, 12, 14, 19, 45
Medium probability items . .: 1, 2, 9, 15, 17, 18, 47, 48
Low probability items . . . . .: 6, 13, 16
7.1.2 Irregular flow rate
This problem may have multiple different root causes.
High probability items ..........: 1, 2, 14
Medium probability items.....: 3, 4, 8, 39, 40
Low probability items ...........: 16. 24, 37, 38
7.1.3 Air is being measured
This problem may have multiple different root causes.
High probability items ..........: 8, 36
Medium probability items.....: 5, 29
Low probability items ...........: 13, 16, 30, 44
7.1.4 No Fluid Flow
The most common root cause is that the DMX is unable to
remove air, or that the pressure diversion inside the DMX
pneumatic cover is not reaching the pump air relief valve.
High probability items ..........: 12, 14, 18, 19, 43, 45
Medium probability items.....: 7, 10, 15, 17, 21, 24, 27,
42,46, 47, 48
Low probability items ...........: 6, 13, 16, 30, 39, 41, 44
7.1.5 High flow rate only
May also be described as "no truck acceleration".
The most common root causes are that the Flow Detector
is not returning to its low flow condition, or that the Air
Control Panel is not functioning properly.
High probability items . . . . .: 22, 33, 41, 49
Medium probability items . .: 31, 32, 35
Low probability items . . . . .: 34, 44
7.1.6 Low flow rate only
The most common root causes are that the Flow Detector
is not returning to its low flow condition, or that the Air
Control Panel is not functioning properly.
High probability items .......... : 14, 19, 39, 52
Medium probability items
: 20, 25, 27, 33, 40, 41,
48, 49
Low probability items ........... : 24, 31, 32, 34, 44
7.1.7 Hose stiff
The most common root causes are that the Flow Detector
is not returning to its low flow condition, or that the Air
Control Panel is not functioning properly.
High probability items .......... : 22
Medium probability items.....: 31, 32, 33
7.1.8 Pump overpressurized
Either the Air Control Panel setting is set incorrectly, or the
pump air relief valve is jammed or unable to vent pneuma-
tic pressure.
High probability items .......... : 56
Medium probability items.....: 16, 41, 44
Low probability items ........... : 13, 30, 31
7.1.9 Slow System Priming
The most common root cause is that the DMX is unable
to remove air, or that the pressure diversion inside the
DMX pneumatic cover is not reaching the pump air relief
valve.
High probability items ..........: 1, 2, 4, 9, 14, 43, 45, 48
Medium probability items.....: 3, 10, 17, 27, 39, 42
Low probability items ...........: 6, 7, 37, 38, 44
7.1.10 Air Leaks
Check seals at connecting points. The DMX may be
overpressurized.
High probability items ..........: 50
Medium probability items.....: 19, 51
7.1.11 Slow meter creep
Either the Flow Detector back pressure is not sufficient
(TXD3 pumps mostly) or it leaks internally.
High probability items .......... : 8
Medium probability items.....: 30, 53
Low probability items ........... : 13, 44
7.1.12 Noise
DMX inlet filter clogged, or the pump is over speeded.
High probability items .......... : 2, 4, 54
Medium probability items.....: 25, 28, 39, 40, 42, 55
