Updating Software
Update the FOMA terminal software by packet
communication when it is necessary.
* Packet communication charges do not apply.
For information on updating software, check
the DOCOMO website and "

(user
support) in iMenu (Japanese only). "auto-update",
"Now update", and "Reserve" are available for
updating software.
•
Software can be updated with data such as
Phonebook entries, camera images, downloaded
data retained in the FOMA terminal. Note that,
however, such data may not be protected depending
on the conditions of the FOMA terminal (malfunction,
damage, exposure to water, etc.). It is recommended
that you make a backup of important data. Note that
some data such as downloaded data cannot be
backed up.
Before updating software
•
Do not remove the battery pack while updating
software. Failure of updating software may result.
•
Fully charge the battery pack before updating
software.
•
Software update (downloading or rewriting) may take
time.
•
You cannot make or receive calls, use communication
functions or other functions while updating software.
(You can receive voice calls while downloading.)
•
It is recommended to update software in a location
with strong signal reception with three antenna bars
displayed while you are not moving. During software
download, if signals become weak, or download is
suspended, retry software update in a location with
strong signal reception.
•
When updating software, the information of your
FOMA terminal (such as model name or serial
number) is automatically sent to the server (software
update server managed by DOCOMO). DOCOMO
does not use the sent information for other purposes
than for software update.
•
If software update fails, the message, "Rewrite failed",
appears and all operations become unavailable. In
this case, you need to bring the FOMA terminal to a
repair counter specifi ed by DOCOMO.
•
Software update is unavailable overseas.
