Product Description
2.1 Environment
Your pressure care mattress system is intended
for use in the following environments:
•
A hospital where intensive/acute care is
provided. Where medical supervision is
required and monitoring is provided in a
ward based setting.
•
A long term care area where medical
supervision is required and monitoring is
provided if necessary (e.g. nursing homes,
rehabilitation facilities, geriatric facilities).
•
A domestic area where the mattress is
used to alleviate or compensate for an
injury or disability.
2.2 Intended User Group
The mattress is suitable for patients weighing up
to 254kg/40st when used with the pump. When
not in use with the pump, the system is suitable
for patients weighing up to 226kg/35st.
For those patients of a very low weight, typically
less than 40kg, clinical judgment is to be used
to determine suitability. A lower (or upper) age
limit is not defined as it depends on the physical
size of the patient in relation to the proportions
of the mattress and bed frame.
Only the professional user is intended to
operate the control panel interface.
The Patient
is not an intended operator.
2.3 Intended Use
The Hybrid-Power mattress combines the
pressure redistribution properties of high
specification foam, with alternating pressure
relief. The visco-elastic foam conforms to the
shape of the body, while the alternating cells
assist with the pressure relief.
There is no
requirement to move the patient off the bed to
step them up to an alternating system or step
them down to a static mattress.
The mattress is intended to support a single
patient. A risk assessment should always be
performed on the suitability of the patient to
the mattress, to ensure they are both mentally
and physically suited to using the mattress
with minimal risk of personal injury. The patient
is only defined as such when situated on the
mattress.
The mattress is designed for use on both
standard and profiling bed frames. Ideally,
patients allocated to this system will have some
degree of independent mobility or can be
repositioned according to individual needs.
For assistance in setting up, using or maintaining
the mattress system or to report unexpected
operation refer to the contact details found in
section 1.
