Before Connecting the Cables
What Type of Cables Should I Use?
Digital recommends that you use 62.5/125-micron multimode graded
index fiber-optic cable with the PORTswitch 900FP. If the fiber-optic
cables that you are using are not the recommended size, refer to the
Appendix B, Fiber-Optic Loss Budget for more information.
If your site is prewired, the fiber-optic cables are labeled with
information on size and attenuation characteristics. All of the cables
should be installed, tested, and tagged at the site prior to this
installation.
See your network manager if you are not sure which cables to connect.
________________________ WARNING ________________________
Some fiber-optic equipment can emit laser or infrared light that
can injure your eyes. Never look into an optical-fiber or connector
port. Always assume the cable is connected to a light source.
