Upgrading from DVS-200 R26 and Ubuntu 14.04 to DVS200 R30 and Ubuntu
18.04
The upgrade from 14.04 to 18.04 must be done in two stages, first we upgrade to 16.04 then to
18.04.
Please Note
: We cannot guarantee the process below will work on all servers, please contact your
service provider or system administrator for support. We recommend you take a full
backup/snapshot of your server before upgrading.
You can also export your settings, perform a fresh installation of Ubuntu 18.04 and then import
them, please see page 38 for details. Your license may need to be reset after upgrading the
operating system. If your DVS-200 fails to activate please contact your local Datavideo office.
Please ensure the system has internet access and execute the instructions below. All commands
must be entered directly into the terminal on the PC or via your cloud provider’s terminal access.
Do not use SSH as your connection may be disconnected during the upgrade and you will be unable
to resume. If you are upgrading a cloud server use your provider’s web-based terminal. If you are
disconnected during the upgrade, simply re-launch the terminal and resume.

Reboot your system to ensure you have as much free memory as possible
2.
Run the command ‘sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade’
3.
Run the command ‘sudo do-release-upgrade’
4.
Answer Yes to any prompts
5.
The system will upgrade the OS to version 16.04
6.
Run the command ‘sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade’
7.
Accept the default options for any prompts
8.
Run the command ‘sudo do-release-upgrade’
9.
If you receive an error asking you to install all available updates run the command ‘sudo apt-
get dist-upgrade’ and then repeat step 8
10.
Answer Yes to any prompts
11.
The system will upgrade to version 18.04

Reboot the system once the installation is complete
