Configuring Your M.A.Ch.10/100
To configure your device to run tests according to your own requirements, choose
Options
from the
Tools
menu. The
M.A.Ch. Options
tab screens display. By making
selections on these screens, you customize the parameters of the tests you want to run.
These parameters are saved under each site name so that you can test using different
parameters at other locations.
General Properties
The
General Properties
tab screen lets you configure basic parameters for the site being
tested. You can select
Cable
Value

NVP
Percent, Calibrate
,
Units
,
Monitor
Report
Rate
,
Auto
Standby
and
No
Auto
Shutdown
.
1. To access the General Properties tab screen, select
Options
under the
Tools
menu.

. The General Properties tab screen appears.

NVP
Percent
, select either the
Cable
Value
or the
NVP
Value
that will be
used for this project. This information is used when determining the length of the
cable.
NVP Percent (Nominal Velocity of Propagation) is the percentage of speed of light
at which electrical pulses move along a specific wire. Each manufacturer and
EIA/TIA specification, such as CAT3 or CAT5, normally has a specified NVP value.
Use this control group to select an NVP type best suited for your needs.
