PREPARING TO CONNECT
THE 552 FRONT PANEL
Front Panel
vs. Network
Operation
Setup and operating adjustments of the 552 are under firm-
ware control; there are no jumpers, switches or mechanical po-
tentiometers. The unit may be set-up initially through the
front-panel OLED display and knob, although this offers a very
limited range of readouts and adjustments. Eventually you
must graduate to the built-in Webserver interface and use any
networked computer, tablet or mobile device with a Web
browser to control your 552 monitor.
You will at least need to access the OLED to find the unit’s IP
address, so some familiarity with the front panel is useful.
Powering-Up
‘Boot’ (startup) time of 552 is just under ten seconds. When
power is first applied, or following a power interruption, the
unit is back in full operation in short order. Setup and recep-
tion parameters in effect previous to a power glitch are reload-
ed instantly from non-volatile memory into the processing core.
Navigating the
OLED Display
The OLED display has an ad-
justable timeout feature with a
factory default at the timer’s 5-
minute minimum. The display
either dims or turns off at the
end of the timeout period.
Pressing or turning the knob
will wake the display and reset
the timer. Above is a snapshot of the Main Menu you will see at
boot-up.
