Operating the Epi-Care

®

free

alarm

When the control unit is powered up and the sensor battery is charged, the alarm
starts working automatically. The control unit signals, whether the monitoring is
working as intended or not, by text in the display and by light and sound signals.
Additionally the control unit contains a log function, which keeps record of events
during use of the alarm.

Signals during monitoring

During monitoring the display shows
the text OK, the lamp is lit green and
there is no light visible in the sensor.

On the left side of the display, a symbol
indicating the connection to
the cellular network, is shown.

In case the sensor is shaken or moved
intensely, a red light will flash on the
control unit. This indicates, that the Epi-
Care

®

free

has registered severe

activity, but not yet reached the alarm limit.

Alarm signals

In case of an alarm, the sensor flashes red, and the control unit
shows the text ALARM in the display, the LEDs flash red and
rapid beeping sounds will be played. An alarm call is also
initiated to

the caretaker’s phone.

When the alarm call is acknowledged, the control unit will automatically
return to monitoring mode. If the Epi-Care

®

 free

is connected to external call

systems, the alarm must be reset by pressing the OK button.

Signals during disconnections

If the sensor is out of range or has run out of power, the control unit will emit

sound and light signals and message the caretaker’s phone.

Signals during GSM disruptions

The control unit performs ongoing monitoring of the connection to the
cellular network. The signal strength is shown by   and with a number
of bars:

Good connection

Medium connection

Weak connection

Poor connection

If   disappears too, the connection to the cellular
network is lost, and alarm calls and text messages
will not be send.
The text GSM ERROR will be shown in the display,
the LED will be lit red.
