(4)Cover removal
Remove the cover and remove the snap ring
and washer.
(5)Center bracket removal
Remove the bolt and remove the center
bracket. Remove the washer for adjusting the
end play for the pinion shaft.
(6)Pinion removal
(a)Put a pipe-shaped tooling on the pinion
stopper and hit the stopper with a
hammer to expose the stopper ring.
(b)Remove the stopper ring with a pliers
and remove the pinion.
Any time the pinion is removed, a new
stopper ring must be installed.
(7)Pinion shaft removal
Remove the spring, lever, reduction gear and
pinion shaft from the front bracket.
Do not mix the sequence of spring, lever and
reduction gear when the pinion shaft is
removed.
(8)Bearing removal
To remove the ball bearings from the ends of
the armature, use a bearing puller. The
bearing fitted in the front bracket is not re-
placeable. Replace the front bracket assembly
if this bearing is defective.
