power from the GBX receiver. The MGL-3 outputs both Beacon and
GPS signals through the single antenna output port to the GBX
receiver, where they are separated and routed to the appropriate
internal sensor.
The H-field Loop antenna within the MGL-3 is sensitive to the magnetic
field of the radiobeacon broadcast, and is less susceptible to P-static
and environments where electric field noise predominates, compared
to an E-field Whip antenna. The MGL-3 receives beacon signals that
are band-pass filtered and amplified, allowing only radiobeacon
frequencies to be passed on to the beacon receiver inside the GBX.
The L1 GPS patch antenna features a low noise amplifier, allowing the
use of antenna cable lengths up to 10 meters (RG-58U). If you require
longer cable runs for your application, please contact CSI Wireless for
a low loss antenna cable.
Technical specifications for the MGL-3 are detailed in Appendix A.
Refer to Section 2.4 for instructions regarding antenna installation.
1.8 Antenna Signal Combiner
An optional external Antenna Signal Combiner is available to combine
the beacon and GPS signals of separate GPS and beacon antennas
into a single input to the GBX receiver. This accessory can provide
greater flexibility in antenna mounting and installation.
