MAINTENANCE
Roll the auger belt off the engine pulley. See Figure 22.
Unhook the idler spring from the hex bolt on the auger housing.
See Figure 23.
Back out the stop bolt until the support bracket rests on the auger
pulley. See Figure 23.
Lift the auger belt from the auger pulley, and slip belt between
the support bracket and the auger pulley. Repeat this step for the
front auger belt. See Figure 23.
Replace auger drive belt by following instructions in reverse order.
If you placed plastic film under the gas cap, be certain to remove
it before operating the snow thrower.
Drive Belt
To remove and replace your snow thrower’s auger belt, proceed as
follows:
1. Remove the plastic belt cover on the front of the engine by remov-
ing the two self-tapping screws. See Figure 20.
2. Drain the gasoline from the snow thrower, or place a piece of
plastic under the gas cap.

3. Carefully pivot the snow thrower up and forward so that it rests on
the auger housing. See Figure 21.
4. Remove the frame cover from the underside of the snow thrower by
removing self-tapping screws which secure it.
5. a. Use a wrench to pivot the idler pulley toward the right. See
Figure 24.
b. Roll the auger belt off the engine pulley.
c. Lift the drive belt off engine pulley.
6. Slip the drive belt off the pulley and between friction wheel and
drive plate. See Figure 23.
7. Remove and replace belt in the reverse order.
