3. If the sand filter is installed below the water level or connected
to mains water, isolation valves should be installed before the filter
and after the valve. This will prevent water flow during any routine
maintenance that may be required.
4. Minimize the length of pipe and the number of fittings to minimize
friction loss to ensure maximum efficiency.
5. Connect all plumbing to the Multi-port Valve taking care that all
joints are glued or tightened securely to prevent leaking.
6. To prevent breakage and damage to the pump and Multi-port
Valve, use only pipe sealants specifically formulated for plastics.
7. Ensure solvents are not excessively applied to fittings as this
could run into O’rings and create sealing problems.
8. Do not over tighten fittings or adapters.
INSTALLATION OF THE MULTI-PORT VALVE
Top Mount Sand Filters are supplied with a screw down Multi-port
Valve. Supplied with the Multi-port Valve are Flange clamp, screws
and O-ring.
1. Screw the barrel unions onto the threaded ports on the Multi-port
Valve.
2. When rotating the Multi-port Valve into position on a Top Mount
Filter, leave some leeway for better alignment of plumbing.
3. Once the Multi-port Valve is in position and the plumbing is
aligned apply the thread tape to the barrel union thread.
4. Using the roll of Teflon tape wrap the Teflon tape around the
thread (tail) of the barrel union in a clock wise direction.
5. Screw the barrel union into the thread of the Multi-port Valve and
hand tighten. The barrel union should be firmly threaded into the
Multi-port Valve and there should be no play between the thread.
6. Once you have done this tighten the barrel union with an
appropriate tool until it is tight.
7. Repeat steps until all barrel unions are firmly onto the Multi-port
Valve.
8. Glue the plumbing to the Barrel unions and Allow 24 hours for
glue (solvent) to set before starting the filter.
9. Test the filter and check for leaks around the threads. If leaking
occurs disconnect plumbing and repeat the steps 2 to 6 until the
leak has stopped.
MULTIPORT VALVE OPERATION
1. FILTER - POSITION FOR FILTERING THE BODY OF WATER.
Incoming water from the piping system is automatically directed
by the Multi-port Valve to the top of the filter bed. As the water is
pumped through the filter sand, dirt and debris are trapped by the
filter bed, and filtered out. The filtered water is returned from the
bottom of the filter tank, through the Multi-port Valve and back
through the piping system.
2. BACKWASH - POSITION FOR CLEANING THE FILTERMEDIA.
Water flow is reversed by the Multi-port Valve through the filter
bed so that water flow is directed to the bottom of the tank and up

1. Vérifier que la pression de l’eau ne dépasse pas la limite
de pression de fonctionnement et utiliser un limiteur de
pression dans le cas d’une utilisation avec l’eau du secteur
ou une pompe haute pression.
2. S’assurer qu’une vanne anti-retour est installée si la
pompe est installée plus de 500mm au-dessus du niveau
d’eau.
3. Si le filtre est installé au-dessous du niveau d’eau ou
est connecté à l’eau du secteur, des vannes devraient être
installées avant le filtre et après la vanne. Cela empêchera
l’écoulement de l’eau lors des opérations d’entretien
éventuelles.
4. Limiter la longueur des tuyaux et le nombre
d’équipements installés en ligne afin de minimiser les
pertes de charge et d’assurer une efficacité maximale.
5. Raccorder tous les tuyaux à la vanne mlutivoies pour
s’assurer que tous les joints sont bien en place et éviter les
fuites.
6. Afin de prévenir tout endommagement de la pompe
ou de la vanne multivoies, n’utiliser pour le tuyau que
des produits d’étanchéité spécifiquement conçus pour le
plastique.
7. S’assurer qu’une quantité de solvants excessive n’est
pas mise en oeuvre afin de ne pas endommager les joints.
8. Ne pas serrer les raccords et accessoires trop
fermement.
INSTALLATION DE LA VANNE MULTIVOIES
La vanne est fournie avec une bride, des vis et un joint
torique.
1. Visser les raccords sur les sorties filetées de la vanne
2. Tourner la vanne afin de l’aligner avec la tuyauterie de la
piscine.
3. Une fois la vanne positionnée, enrouler du ruban Téflon
sur le filetage des raccords, dans le sens des aiguilles
d’une montre.
4. Visser les raccords sur la vanne et serrer manuellement.
Le raccord doit être solidement vissé dans la vanne et ne
doit pas présenter de jeu.
5. Puis serrer le raccord avec un outil approprié jusqu’à ce
qu’il soit bien serré.
6. Répéter cette étape pour tous les raccords vissés à la
vanne.
7. Coller les tuyaux aux raccords et attendre 24 h que la
colle sèche avant de démarrer le filtre.
8. Essayer le filtre et vérifier qu’il n’y ait pas de fuite autour
des filetages. En cas de fuite, répéter les opérations 2 à 6.
