Labelling

Fiber termination identi

cation is equally important in mapping the data center netw ork. Individual

 bres

(such as jumpers) must be clearly labeled to identify local and remote location. Typically a single jumper w ill
contain two labels on each end of the

bre near the termination point identifying the speci

 c local ID and the

remote ID the jumper is patching to. It is important to follow  suite w ith previous de

 ned code indicating rack

or cabinet ID, patch panel ID and more speci

 cally the individual port or

bre t ermination location. One should

cross reference the recommended guidelines in ANSI/ TIA-606. Proper labelling allows users to easily trace
jumpers from one location w ithin the netw ork to the next .

M ost common ident i

 cation methods for individual

bre ID employ the use of

ag or w raparound preprint ed

labels. Barrel or snap-on labels may also be employed but user must select the proper barrel label for the
corresponding jumper diameter, e.g., 2.0 mm. Documentation should clearly identify individual

 bre strands of

the cable or jumper.
