Digicast Media Router S2 Receiver CMR-5995 (MR-S2-ASI)

Revision 1

Device Management via User Interfaces

MN-CMR5995-IOM

4-37

4.3.4.2

Port Number Configuration

In addition to the features illustrated, one additional feature is available, for security reasons, via
the serial interface only. Modifying the port numbers prevents attacks on “well known” ports by
devices known as port scanners.  This feature is configuration of the TCP Port number for Telnet
and HTTP protocols. Option <

M

> allows the operator to modify the standard port numbers for

Telnet (23) and HTTP (80) to prevent unauthorized access to the device. Care should be taken not
to use a reserved standard port number.
