5. Install firmware version 2.1.9g or later on the new switch element
IMPORTANT:
All switch elements in the SAN must be running at the same firmware version
level, and all fabric parameters must be the same, except for the Fibre Channel IP Address and
the Domain ID.
a. Ensure that the firmware version 2.x.x is available on the workstation or network.
(Copy it from the StorageWorks SAN Switch Software V2.x.x CD, if you do not
already have this file.)
b. Enter the
firmwareDownload
command to download the firmware from the server to
the switch element.
c. Enter the requested information at the prompts:
Server Name or IP Address [host]:
Enter name or IP address of
computer on which firmware is located.
IP Address for Server:
Enter IP address.
User Name [user]:
Enter login name required to access computer.
File Name [/usr/switch/firmware]:
Enter filename or absolute path
of firmware.
Protocol (RSHD or FTP) [rshd]:
Press Enter to use RSHD, or enter
FTP
to use FTP protocol.
Password:
FTP password (only displays if FTP protocol was selected).
d. Restart the switch element by entering the
Reboot
command
.
6. Restore any unsaved switch element configuration. If you saved the switch element
configuration with the
configUpload
Telnet command, continue to step 7.
If you did not save the configuration using the
configUpload
command (see Saving and
Restoring the Switch Element Configuration Settings, page 3-11), verify that the
replacement switch element parameters are the same as those of the other switch
elements in the SAN Integrated Switch:
a. Enter the
configShow
command on another switch element in the SAN Integrated
Switch.
b. Do not change the zoning configuration information. It will be automatically
acquired by the replacement switch when it is incorporated into the SAN.
