SAN Switch Integrated/32 and Integrated/64 Installation and Hardware Guide
All SAN Integrated Switch ports support full fabric capability. Full fabric allows the SAN
Integrated Switch to be linked or cascaded to other StorageWorks Fibre Channel switches,
enabling you to build a highly scalable SAN fabric. The SAN Integrated Switch supports
F_port, FL_port, and E_port connections and Distributed Name Server (DNS).
Fully compatible with the entire Compaq StorageWorks SAN Switch product family, the
SAN Integrated Switch enables customers to deploy SANs in a modular manner and scale
storage environments as needed, while optimizing existing investments in server and
storage infrastructure. The SAN Integrated Switch can be managed from a network.
Features of the SAN Integrated Switch
Features of the IS/32 and IS/64 include the following:
■
High data throughput. All user ports are capable of the maximum Fibre Channel speed
of one Gb/s in a full Fibre Channel fabric architecture.
■
Factory-configured with shortwave optical GBICs and ISL optical cables to provide
either 32 or 64 user ports. Each port can also accept longwave optical GBICs.
■
High availability. Automatic, dynamic path rerouting in the event of a link failure. No
single point of failure.
■
Modular design. Single, integrated, rack-ready, 14U-chassis.
■
Preconfigured with Web-Based Management Tools, and Zoning software.
■
Backward compatibility between Fibre Channel SAN Integrated switches and Compaq
StorageWorks Fibre Channel SAN switches. Older, discontinued Fibre Channel
Switch 8 and 16 models are not compatible.
■
Individual switch elements can be replaced with Compaq SAN Switch 16-ELs, for
great serviceability and reduced spares inventory (see Replacing the Switch Element,
page 4-4)
■
High port-count solutions at an unmatched low cost of ownership and scalability.
