CAUTION:
If a third-party rack is used, observe the following minimum
requirements to ensure adequate airflow and to prevent damage to the
equipment:
■
Front and rear doors: If your server rack includes closing front and rear
doors, you must allow 830 square inches of holes evenly distributed from
top to bottom to permit adequate airflow.
■
Side: The clearance between the installed module and the side panels of
the rack must be a minimum of 2.75 inches.
■
Rear: The clearance between the back of the rack and the wall must be a
minimum of 30 inches, and the equipment must operate without a rear
door.
CAUTION:
If all of the vertical space in the rack is not filled by components, the
gaps left cause a change in airflow through the rack and across the
components. These gaps need to be covered with blanking panels.
Unpacking the Server
Unpack the server box and locate the materials and documentation necessary
to install your rack-mount server. Your Compaq ProLiant DL580 server
includes all parts and materials required for rack mounting. Contents of the
rack model server box include:
■
