Selecting an Optimum Environment
When installing your Compaq ProLiant DL580 server in a rack, select a
location that meets the following environmental standards.
Space Requirements
■
Clearance in the front of the rack should be a minimum of 25 inches for
servicing and adequate airflow.
■
Clearance in the back of the rack should be a minimum of 30 inches to
allow for servicing and adequate airflow.
Power Requirements
WARNING:
To reduce the risk of personal injury, fire, or damage to the
equipment, do not overload the AC supply branch circuit that provides power to
the rack. Consult the electrical authority having jurisdiction over your facility
wiring and installation requirements.
IMPORTANT:
Because of the 100 to 120 VAC electrical rating of each power supply,
some local electrical authorities may require either one 15-ampere circuit for each power
supply or one 20-ampere circuit for each pair of power supplies.
■
The power load needs to be balanced between available AC supply
branch circuits.
■
The overall system AC current load must not exceed 80 percent of the
branch circuit AC current rating.
■
If power strips are used, the load should not exceed 80 percent of the
marked electrical current rating for each power strip.
