Smart Array 5i Controller
To remove the Smart Array 5i Controller:
1.
Power down the server. See the “Powering Down the Server” section in this chapter.
2.
Extend or remove the server from the rack. See the “Preparation Procedures” section in
this chapter.
3.
Remove the access panel. See the “Access Panel” section in this chapter.
4.
Remove the PCI riser cage. See the “PCI Riser Cage” section in this chapter.
5.
Turn each of the four anchor pins one-quarter turn counterclockwise
.
6.
Lift the controller off the system board

IMPORTANT:
In the default position (off), the SCSI interlock disable switch prevents the ProLiant DL380
Generation 2 server from booting when the Smart Array 5i Controller is removed. If you operate the
server without the Smart Array 5i Controller for troubleshooting purposes, you must set the SCSI interlock
disable switch to on. For more information, see Chapter 4, “Connectors, LED Indicators, Switches, and
Jumpers.”
Reverse steps 1 through 6 to replace the Smart Array 5i Controller.
