Connecting the UPS Phone/Fax Surge
Protector (Available on Select Models)
Select Compaq Pro UPS 500 models include a Phone/Fax Surge Protector that
allows the UPS to protect a communications device from surges on a single
phone line.
Connect a phone cord (user supplied) from the wall jack to the UPS connector
labeled “IN.” Connect a phone cord from your equipment to the UPS
connector labeled “OUT.” See Figure 2-2.
CAUTION:
To avoid damaging the equipment, do not connect the
Phone/Fax Surge Protector to a digital PBX line. Connect to an analog
phone line.
NOTE:
Phone/Fax Surge Protector connection is optional. Your UPS will function
properly without this connection.
