13.3 Using rigid strength member strain relief

13.3.1 Prepare drop cable

Remove the jacket over a distance of 130 cm +/-

5 cm (51.2 +/-2 inches)

Rigid strength

member

Cut the rigid strengthmember to length to

4 cm +/-0,5 cm (1.6 +/- 0.2 inches).

Subunits

Clean the subunits, remove all grease

aramid yarn

Remove aramid yarn if present.

If the diameter is smaller than 5 mm (0.2”) add minimum 3 wraps of self amalgamating silicon tape. Stretch the tape up to

300% while wrapping the tape around the cable. Make sure the tape is wrapped where the cable ties will be positioned.

13.3.2 Kit contents

13.3.3 Install strain relief on drop cable

13.3.3.1 Slide the lug nut over the helve of the carrier.
13.3.3.2 Slide the rigid strength member between the helve and the lug nut.

Mount the bolt in the lug nut and secure the bolt.
13.3.3.3 Secure the jacket with two cable ties.

13.3.4 Install drop cable

13.3.4.1 Slide the carrier with the cable secured into the slots of the organizer.

Using aramid yarn strain relief

13.4.1 Prepare drop cable

Strip the dual jacket to a length of 1 cm

+/0,2 cm (0.4 +/- 0.08 inches). Remove the

aramid yarn inside this second jacket.

Aramid yarn

Cut the aramid yarn to length of 12 cm +/- 1 cm

(1.6 +/- 0.2 inches)..

Subunits

Clean the subunits, remove all grease

Rigid strength

member

Remove the rigid strength member if present.

If the diameter is smaller than 5 mm (0.2”), add minimum 3 wraps of self amalgamating silicon tape. Stretch the tape up to

300% while wrapping the tape around the cable. Make sure the tape is wrapped where the cable ties will be positioned.
