4.3 OMT
The equipment can be monitored and controlled locally and remotely connected to the equipments
locally or remotely via several communication types such as RS-232, Wireless modem and PSTN

Local connection via RS-232:
This is for local commissioning of the equipment. The equipment
is connected with the OMT PC via a commissioning cable supplied with the equipment.

Remote connection via modem:
This is for remote commissioning of the equipment, system
working parameters and communication configuration can be set or inquired remotely through
the integrated wireless modem.

Connection via PSTN (TCP/IP):
This is the other option for remote commissioning of the
equipment. This can only be selected provided that the PSTN port is available for the equipment.
This option can make sure theensures continuous and fast communication between the
equipment and the OMT PC.
OMT software is based on Windows operation system, and is designed for monitoring and
maintaining of Comba repeaters and boosters.

For RA-7800 repeater, the OMT software performs the following functions:

To configure and adjust the equipment’s operating parameters

To display the equipment’s internal operation status

To display the input field level and output power

To configure and commission the software network parameters

To record the system logs as Access Log, Operation Log and Alarm Log.

To test the operating status of the equipment modem

To perform OMT firmware download
4.3.1 OMT SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
Refer to Reference 0.6.2 for installing OMT software. After installing OMT software on the PC,
connection to the equipment can be done locally or remotely.
4.3.2 OMT SOFTWARE VERSION
OMT software is designed to be backward compatible. To view the OMT software version, select
[Help] -> [About] in the OMT software main window. The current OMT version for RA-7800 is
OMTv3.20.
4.3.3 CONNECTION TO OMT
4.3.3.1 Physical
Sometimes known as the F-interface, this is implemented in hardware as RS-232 for ASCII
communication protocol between OMT and the equipment.
Physical/Local Connection
RS-232 cable is supplied with equipment. It connects the serial port of the PC to the RS-232 port on
MU through the RS-232 port on the Main Control Unit Local commissioning of RU can be monitored
through the RU unit connected with it.
