2.4 EQUIPMENT
CONSTITUTION
This optical repeater consists of modules described below:
The MU consists of:
•
Power Supply Unit (PSU): Converts the input voltage into stable DC to supply power for other
modules and to charge the internal Li-ion battery.
•
Main Control Unit (MCU): Is used to control and monitor the operation parameters of the MU and
provides telecommunication interface RS232 for local commissioning and MODEM for remote
monitoring.
•
Li-ion Battery: Provides power to the Main Control Unit to send alarm signals during power failure.
•
RFU: Receive and transmit the RX/TX signal of GSM1800 and WCDMA2100.
•
CBU: Receive and transmit the Tx/Rx signal of GSM1800 and WCDMA2100 (duplex input MU
only).
•
Fiber Optical Unit (FOU) Unit: Interface between MU and RU. The optical TX/RX module
integrated in it converts the received RF signals into optical signals for transmission to the RU.
The RU consists of:
•
Optical TX/RX Module: Proceed with the conversion from optical signals to RF signals and the
setting of fiber signal link. Optical RX Module converts the received optical signals into RF signals
and the Optical TX Module converts the received RF signals into fiber signals and then transmits
them to the coverage areas.
•
Combiner: Combines the uplink and downlink signals to/from the MT/DT port.
•
Power Supply Unit (PSU): Converts the input AC voltage into stable DC to supply power for other
modules and to charge the internal Li-ion battery.
•
Main Control Unit (MCU): Is used to control and monitor the operation parameters of the MU and
provides telecommunication interface RS232 for local commissioning and MODEM for remote
monitoring.
•
Distribution Board: Distribute control signal to mornitor the operating parameters of the modules.
•
Li-ion Battery: Will supply power to MCU for up to two hours after power failure.
•
Duplexer (DPX): Is used to combine and divide the UL/DL signals of GSM1800 and
WCDMA2100.
•
UL/DL Pre-amplifer Module: Is used to amplify the UL/DL signal and adjust the DL gain.
•
DL Amplifier Module: Is used to amplify the DL signal with ALC function.
•
Surge Protector: Provides protection to the PSU.
