RHEL 7.2 Boot from SAN
There is an issue with RHEL 7.2 general availability (GA). If multipath is
configured and the
Server with GUI
installation option is selected, the OS cannot
complete the boot process.
When a single-path configuration with the Server with GUI installation option is
specified, or a multipath configuration using the
minimum
installation option, this
issue does not occur.
The following procedure describes how to successfully boot to RHEL 7.2 GA after
a boot from SAN installation with FastLinQ adapters on a multipath configuration
using the
minimum
installation option.
To boot to RHEL 7.2 after a boot from SAN installation:
1.
Configure the FCoE initiators and boot LUN for boot from SAN installation.
2.
Install RHEL 7.2.
3.
To install the DUD drivers during RHEL 7.2 installation, edit the
grub
line to
install the out-of-box drivers. Add option
dd
to the end of the kernel line in
the
grub
menu.
linuxefi /images/pxeboot/vmlinuz
inst.stage2=jd:LABEL=RHEL-7.2\x20Server.x86_64 quiet
dd
initrdefi /images/pxeboot/initrd.img
4.
Add the FCoE SANs.
