TROUBLESHOOTING
NOTE: If circuit breaker is tripped repeatedly, or fuse is blown more than
once, contact a qualified electrician.
PROBLEM
CAUSE
SOLUTION
UNIT WILL NOT OPERATE
Unit may have become unplugged.
Check that unit is securely plugged into the wall
socket.
Fuse may have blown.
Replace fuse. See Note.
Circuit breaker may have tripped.
Reset circuit breaker. See Note.
Unit mode may be set to OFF.
Check to make sure Cooling mode is selected.
Thermostat was moved lower then quickly back
to a higher number.
Wait approximately 3 minutes for unit to reset.
Unit was turned off and then back on too
quickly.
Turn unit off and then wait approximately 3 minutes.
Turn unit back on.
Thermostat not set low enough to bring on
cooling.
Adjust thermostat to a lower temperature.
UNIT NOT PROVIDING COOLING
Unit airflow is blocked.
Remove any curtains, blinds, or furniture that may be
blocking indoor airflow. Check outdoor airflow and
remove any blockage to outdoor airflow.
Thermostat temperature setting is too warm.
Reset thermostat to a cooler temperature.
Unit air filter is dirty.
Remove and clean air filter.
Room was excessively hot when cooling oper-
ation started.
Allow sufficient time for unit to cool room.
Cooling selector set to LO or MED.
Set Cooling operation to HI setting.
Room temperature below 60 F (16 C)
Cooling will not occur if the room temperature is
below 60 F (16 C).
Temperature sensor tube touching coil, caus-
ing low temperature reading.
Straighten tube so it is not touching the coil.
UNIT MAKING NOISES
Normal operation.
Low clicking, bubbling, or whooshing noises are nor-
mal during operation of the unit.
Window vibration.
Unit improperly installed in window. Refer to installa-
tion instructions for proper installation.
WATER DRIPPING OUTSIDE
Normal operation.
Condensation runoff during hot and humid weather
is normal.
WATER DRIPPING INSIDE
Unit is not installed correctly.
Unit must be installed tilted backfor proper runoff of
condensation. Check that installation is correct and
make necessary adjustments.
ICE OR FROST BUILD-UP ON COIL
Unit air filter is dirty.
Remove and clean air filter.
Low outside temperature.
When outdoor air is approximately 60 F (16 C) or
below, frost may form when unit is in Cooling mode.
Switch unit to Fan Only mode until ice or frost melts.
