6.4 Connection options
6.4.1 Wired ethernet connection
A wired Ethernet connection is the recommended setup for the FiX1.
Run an Ethernet cable of suitable length from the FiX1 to the nearest network connection point.
Decide whether you wish to allocate to the FiX1 a ‘fixed’ or ‘dynamic’ IP address.
6.4.1.1 Dynamic IP address
To use a dynamic IP address, in the
Network setup options
>
Ethernet
settings
, set the switches to
Ethernet
enabled
and
Dynamic
.
An IP address will be automatically assigned to the FiX1 when it is connected to a DHCP server, in the same way
that a PC is assigned an IP address when it is connected to a company’s network.
When the FiX1 is connected to a network, find the IP address of the system by using a tool such as Mac Scanner
(see section 5.8.1). Enter this IP address into your web browser.
With
Dynamic
set in the FiX1 web application, you may choose to set your network router to reserve a fixed IP
