Ensure that close to the module
installation point there are no con-
ductors, cables or free materials
that can come into contact with
the module.
To avoid interference due to cou-
pling, run the Z1, Z2, Z3 inputs
connection conductors separately
from the power conductors.
Ensure that the machine can oper-
ate in temperature and humidity
conditions according to the mod-
ule technical data in this manual.
Wiring
Warning!
Pay particular attention
to the connections between motor
and safety module. They must be
permanently connected and such
as to avoid external damage risks,
in particular the risk of being
squashed, cut or to have short-cir-
cuit between the Z1, Z2, Z3 phas-
es. Operator safety might no
longer be guaranteed if this is not
checked.
The module power supply voltage
is connected to the A1 and A2 ter-
minals. When the module is pow-
ered correctly, the
led must be
on. The module can control three-
phase or single-phase electric
motors. Don’t use MFC1 in appli-
cations where the power supply is
carried out by batteries.
Proper wire terminal ends must be
used to connect the external
cables to the unit.
Connection to a three-phase
motor
: connect the module paral-
lel to the motor through three 200
mA protection fuses (F1, F2, F3)
set in series to the phases as
shown in figure 1.
Connection to a single-phase
motor
: connect the module paral-
lel to the motor as shown in figure
2. Short-circuit the Z1 and Z3 ter-
minals through an external jumper.
Then connect the two phases of
the single-phase motor to the Z1
and Z2 terminals. Connect two
200 mA protection fuses (F1, F2) in
series.
The safety outputs of MF1C can
be connected as shown in fig. 1
and 2, which refer to safety inter-
locking switch with solenoid lock
application. In these examples, the
safety module MF1C is used in
combination with a manual start
safety gate module (i.e. NES02D),
which inhibits the machine from
automatic restarting once the
guard has been opened and mon-
itors the position of movable
guards. Provided that the safety
switch is closed and the motor is
stopped, the machine can operate
only by pushing the START con-
tact.
In these applications the X1 and
X2 terminals must be jumped.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
The installation procedure of the
safety module must be repeated
every time it is installed and every
time the wiring is changed and at
regular intervals by carrying out all
the operations described below.
