Cause

Color printing was specified, but an optional FINE cartridge is not installed.

What to Do

To print in color, an optional FINE cartridge is required.

After installing the FINE cartridge in the left part of the print head holder, close the top cover to cancel the
error. Then, the printer resumes printing.

Installing a FINE Cartridge

If you do not print in color, press the printer's 

RESUME/CANCEL

 button to stop the printing.

If you are printing from a computer, open the printer driver's setup screen, check the 

Grayscale Printing

check box on the 

Main

 sheet, and then print again.

• In some application software, color printing may be performed irrespective of the setting of the printer

driver. If this error occurs even if you check the 

Grayscale Printing

 check box on the 

Main

 sheet,

click the 

Print Options

 button on the 

Page Setup

 sheet, and select 

Black Only

• When printing from a smartphone or cloud service, you can print color prints in monochrome by

opening the Remote UI and enabling 

Auto-switch to grayscale
