Cause

Contact protector or optional FINE cartridge cannot be recognized.

What to Do

Printing cannot be executed because the contact protector or FINE cartridge may not be installed properly
or the cartridge may not be compatible with this printer.

If you are printing, press the printer's 

RESUME/CANCEL

 button to cancel printing, then take one of the

following actions.

• Install the contact protector supplied with this printer properly.

• Install the appropriate FINE cartridge properly.

If the error is not resolved, the FINE cartridge may be damaged. Replace the FINE cartridge with a
new one.

If this does not solve the problem, contact your nearest Canon service center to request a repair.

Important

• Do not tilt the printer when moving it since the ink may leak out.
• When transporting the printer for repairing it, see Repairing Your Printer.
