Final Film Formats
At the developing stage, the photographer must choose between placing 35 mm film in a sleeve or mounting it in
a slide cover.
The standard format for negative film is to place it in a sleeve fitting six frames. Positive film may be placed in
either a six-frame sleeve or individual slide mounts.
In the case of IX240 film, the developed film remains in the cartridge, negating the need for format selection.
The CanoScan 2700F can accommodate all of the above formats, permitting the photographer to freely select
between them according to the constraints of other equipment, such as the camera.
So What Film Is Best?
If a 35 mm camera is to be used, negative color film developed in a standard sleeve is recommended to allow
casual photo shooting and reproduction in the form of paper prints.
If the purpose of the photo shoot is to produce materials for slide presentations and the photographer is techni-
cally competent, color positive film is recommended. The final format will depend upon the application.
