Precautions Regarding Wi-Fi Networks
When using a Wi-Fi network, try the following corrective actions if the transmission rate drops, the connection is
lost, or other problems occur.
Positioning a network device (access point, mobile device, etc.)
- When u
s
ing a Wi-Fi networ
k
indoor
s
, place the networ
k
device in the
s
ame room a
s
the camcorder.
- Place the networ
k
device in an open, unob
s
tructed location, where people or object
s
do not come between it and the
camcorder.
- Place the networ
k
device a
s
clo
s
e a
s
po
ss
ible to the camcorder and change the networ
k
device’
s
height or orientation

ary.
Nearby electronic devices
- If the tran
s
mi
ss
ion rate over a Wi-Fi networ
k
drop
s
becau
s
e of interference from the following electronic device
s
,
s
witching to the 5 GHz band or to a different channel may
s
olve the problem.
- Wi-Fi networ
ks
u
s
ing the IEEE 802.11b/g/n protocol operate in the 2.4 GHz band. For thi
s
rea
s
on, the tran
s
mi
ss
ion
rate may drop if there are nearby microwave oven
s
, cordle
ss
telephone
s
, microphone
s
, or
s
imilar device
s
operating on
the
s
ame frequency band.
- If another acce
ss
point operating on the
s
ame frequency band a
s
the camcorder i
s
u
s
ed nearby, the tran
s
mi
ss
ion rate
may drop.
Using multiple camcorders/wireless transmitters/access points
- Chec
k
that there are no IP addre
ss
conflict
s
among the device
s
connected to the
s
ame networ
k
.
- If multiple camcorder
s
are connected to a
s
ingle acce
ss
point, connection
s
peed
s
may be reduced.
- To reduce radio wave interference when there are multiple acce
ss
point
s
u
s
ing IEEE 802.11b/g or IEEE 802.11n (in the
2.4 GHz band), leave a gap of four channel
s
between each wirele
ss
acce
ss
point. For example, u
s
e channel
s
1, 6, and
11, channel
s
2, 7, and 12, or channel
s
3, 8, and 13. If you can u
s
e IEEE 802.11a/n (in the 5 GHz band),
s
witch to
IEEE 802.11a/n and
s
pecify a different channel.
List of Messages
Refer to this section if a message appears on the screen. The messages in this section appear in alphabetical
order. Note that for some messages, an indication of the SD card involved (
6
,
7
, etc.) may appear above the
message itself.
