2.1 Pre-Installation
Prior to deploying the MLRemote
®
network in the field, MLSuite
2019 or newer should be installed on a field laptop
to be used for configuration and troubleshooting. See the
MultiLogger Suite Installation Guide
for information on
installing MLSuite.
Each MLRemote is part of a network consisting of a single MLBase
and one or more MLRemotes. A Network ID is
used to connect the MLBase and MLRemote units on a single network. The devices are shipped programmed with a
Network ID of '0'.
If deploying a single MLBase network, no changes are needed. If deploying more than one MLBase, the Network
IDs must be updated.
The Network ID of an MLRemote can be set using a direct connection to the MLRemote with a custom RS-232
serial cable (CAN-MLRemote-CON-CBL). This can be done on site prior to deploying the system or in the field
during the installation process. For detailed instructions on setting the Network ID refer to
Appendix B - Setting
Network ID
.
The Network ID for an MLBase can be set during the normal server configuration process, refer to
Appendix B -
Updating the MLBase XBee Network ID
in the
MLBase Users Guide
for instructions on updating the MLBase
Network ID.
