Tasks and Best Practices

Attention 

Signal levels should meet the MINIMUM SNR for the modulation scheme you have selected. 

Tune the Longest Link First 

For the longest/weakest link, reduce the Transmit Power of the End Point until the RSSI at the Access 

Point is sufficiently reduced to meet the Minimum SNR for the modulation selected.  
 

 

Note 
Use the RF Ping tool to check the RSSI levels as this provides specific measurements at 

both ends of each link and not a combined average. 

 
Set the Access Points Transmit Power level so that the End Point RSSI on the longest/weakest link 

meets the Minimum SNR for the modulation selected. 

Work Your Way Back 

For all other End Point radios reduce the Transmit Power until the RSSI at the Access Point is 

sufficiently reduced to meet the Minimum SNR for the modulation selected.  
 

 

Note 
Use the RF Ping tool to check the RSSI levels as this provides specific measurements at 

both ends of each link and not a combined average. 

 

Once you have adjusted the Transmit Power on all the End Points you have completed the tuning 

process.
